July coming to a close means one thing to motorcycle enthusiasts – Sturgis is right around the corner. The 77th annual motorcycle rally runs from August 4th - August 13th. The small six thousand-some populated city usually draws a half million people. With scenic routes featuring historic sites, state parks, and wildlife reserves, the area is great for motorcycle touring. Remember that a windscreen by Slipstreamer will keep the wind blast off your chest and arms, reducing fatigue on longer rides. You can get our products through J&P Cycles at their store in downtown Sturgis.
Over the ten-day festival, here are a few things to check out.

Sturgis Street Food Throw Down
This contest is new this year and stretches over August 4th through August 9th. Sixty street food vendors compete for the title of The People's Choice and the 'Best of the Best' winner with a signature dish. Signature dishes can be a main dish, side dish, dessert, cake, or beverage – and must be served to the public over the course of the rally. On Thursday, August 10th at the Harley-Davidson Rally Point Stage, the winners will be announced.
1st Ever Sturgis Tuesday Tattoo Contest
The Tattoo Contest is another new event this year. With a $5 entree fee, you can enter any two categories. Different categories include cover up of an existing tattoo, horror, pin up, portrait, arm sleeve, back piece, and leg sleeve. Judging will be based on features such as originality, overall design, color, shading, and flow and movement of that tattoo.
Some of the big name concerts this year include Bush, Ozzy Osbourne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Blink-182. A full list of the music headliners can be foundhere.
Monuments and Landmarks
If enjoying history and nature is more to your taste, South Dakota still has much to offer. Some of the monuments and landmarks to visit include Crazy Horse Memorial and Wonderland Cave. Construction of Crazy Horse Memorial started in 1948, with Crazy Horse's face completed in 1998. It's incredible and humbling to see such a large monument mid-creation. Wonderland Cave boasts cave formations such as popcorn crystal, boxwork crystals, and Flowstone. Visiting is a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of South Dakota.
